I still think the only thing it's lacking is the spherical camera system :P Otherwise, it's amazing :D

It looks good. It could still use some work. In the crystal frost video it lacks collision detection and gravity. And the hangglider could use some more natural movement. But what bothers me more is what is with the hangglider action shooting rings like missiles. Okay I haven't played all the sonic games, but it kind of looks unSonic like.

Looks really great, but, isn't sonic about running fast, not trying to get around narrow paths without falling off? ^^;

I fixed those nasty collision issues. The hanglider animations are an ongoing process, and about the ring projectles..... The only thing I can say about that is, this game is going to have a lot of different and new concepts. That being one of them. Before getting on the hang glider you will have to collect a ton of rings to use as ammo. Every time you shoot one in hang glider mode you lose 1 ring! if you use all your rings it will also deplete your health just as in all the other sonic games so you have to think and be careful. I promise you will see a lot of things in my project that may make you scratch your head and say "what the hell? sonic doesn't do that, does he?" but trust me when I'm finished all of my odd and unique twists will be for the better!

You should add in the fish-eye lense effect. I like the idea behind this project.

The only bad thing I have to say about this so far is the lack of quality in some of the images you use... Are those just really small images scaled up?

They're actual sprites ripped from Sonic X-treme; they look pretty much the same as they did in the tech demos.

:X I would invest in some time to make them look prettier then :P

BETA DEMOS
« Reply #11 on: November 06, 2010, 09:17:42 am »
I decided to make some beta demos for you guys to download and play test the game! Keep in mind things are not final and the project still has a long way to go!!!

Also keep this in mind:
Minimum System requierments:
Dual Core 2.9ghz or faster
2 gigs System Ram
Direct X 9.0C or better
512mb 3d graphics card (NVIDIA WORKS BETTER)

I HAVE tested this game on other systems with lower specs and it runs like crap! If you do not have these specifications DO NOT TRY AND PLAY THE DEMOS. PCS I tested with single core CPUS crashed during play. I can not stress this enough! Do not attempt to play if you dont meet these specifications!

anyway here are the 2 demos for download, enjoy!

>_o you're not managing your resources well enough... 66Mb is kinda harsh for a GM game. That's 66Mb (if not WAY more) that *HAS* to sit in your RAM. You're essentially dumping your source into RAM plus the instructions to read it...

Need to dial down your in-GMD resources and figure something else out for that stuff D:

I've seen worse mamor. How about 103MB?

Though he is right. If you can, keep your resources external

will importing all in game textures from bmp files help this problem as opposed to saving them within the game?

Using BMP in general is a big no no :x

Import from PNG with native alpha.

oh. well thank you! I didnt know that would effect the performance of the game really! That should be easy enough to fix right? I've just got to include like an installer and all textures in png format. I think I can do that! thanks for your help really!

Bit of a gravedig; but if you're still working on this then check out http://forums.lostlevels.org/viewtopic.php?t=2204

It'll give you a good idea of the level layouts from the original.
