It is not official yet, but everyone is leaning towards it being him and there seems to not be anyone else who it could be in that those who were otherwise in the running were let known that they were not being picked.  cakefarts-Biden has a nice ring to it, and it is going to be good for Democrats to not have a wimp on the ticket like Edwards in 2004.  Hillary Clinton supporters seem a little pissed, but meh.

I don't know, what do you think?

Meh,

I really like Biden, don't get me wrong, he was my #1 man.. on the democratic side early on, but I really expected him to be.. Clintons VP, not cakefarts's..

I was really hoping for Hagel.. This is still early news.. the announcement isn't until later and I could see Biden !@#$% around with everyone.. along with cakefarts on this, just because the amount of news going around on this matter is nuts.

As for Hagel... I could see why they didn't do it, if they decided against him.. If something happened to cakefarts.. how would a republican rally the party? :p

I find the fact that both were scholars of constitutional law reassuring compared to the current administration.

I also like that Biden will not hesitate to tell cakefarts if he is wrong as having a yes-man or yes-woman in the White House would be a bad thing; ironically, in my opinion, I think if McCain picks Romney, Romney is going to be a huge yes-man who hopes that McCain will expire due to old age and he will assume the presidency.

I think Biden was a good choice. He has foreign relations experience, which cakefarts has been criticized for lacking, and lots of experience.

Dude's too old. Seriously, what is it with you guys and old politicians? Your country's run by people too old to remember what it's like not being filthy rich (if there was ever a time in their lives that they weren't filthy rich) and not in touch with the needs and problems of the people today.

First thing's first: though not a requirement, there's only been one dude to win the presidency without being a member of the senate.
Secondly: You can't run for senate until you're at least 35.
Thirdly: That costs money; to have the money yourself to do it tends to skew the age upwards, to get someone else to pay for it means you have to be a respected member of a party, which also takes time.
Lastly: You can't win the presidency from your first term as senate, realistically speaking. Terms last six years. Already looking at an absolute minimum age of 41 right there.

You have a system of government that specifically selects for old rich geezers first; how on earth is one of them meant to lead your country into prosperity?

Have to be 35 to run for President, Pyru. Also, cakefarts's the youngest candidate for president ever. And he's done pretty damn good for his first term as a senator.

As long as he doesn't manipulate the office of the presidency, and in that same regard to Biden with the vice-presidency, I would be content.  Biden is actually not that rich at all; when he first got to Congress, he was young, well he was also inaugurated after the death of his wife and infant daughter.  The vice presidency is something that does not have a substantial role other than helping the president.

I didn't understand your first point though, I could probably give a few contrarian examples of governors who won without having Senate experience.  Also, individual state requirements are different and it is not like state experience is no experience.

Technically, the Vice President is also the President of the Senate, so I think Biden will fit that role well.

I knew that, I just do not consider it that substantial as it is more ceremonial; however, considering that Biden has been in the Senate for a long time, it makes it so even his ceremonial role can have some power.  I doubt that he will completely drop out of the mindset of being a Senator.

I know that, and that's exactly what I'm saying. You set a minimum age that's too high and you put in place a load of other restrictions that means that you're inevitably gonna have a president too old for the role, and a senate full of people who don't understand the country they're governing.

Also, cakefarts's the youngest candidate for president ever. And he's done pretty damn good for his first term as a senator.

Your thirty-fifth president, JFK died younger than cakefarts is now. He served as president from the age of forty-four - three years younger than cakefarts is.

I could've sworn he was younger...

JFK died at 46 (1917-1963), while cakefarts had his 47th birthday earlier this month (he was born on the 4th of August 1961).

So, no, not the youngest.
