I remember going in to buy Final Fantasy VI Advance on the release date and they only had 3 copies. A game store with only three copies of a new game! And two of them were preordered. I was going to buy another copy for my friend, and another guy I know was going to pick one up. But it makes sense. They make so much money off of used games, why would they bother with buying new ones? And even with used games they rip you off. You probably only get paid 10% what they're going to put it on the shelf for. Buying used games is effectively worse than piracy because its so mainstream. Nobody feels guilt or avoids it because you're paying money legally for this stuff. Logged

The gaming company already got their money for that copy; and its not like 2 people have the exact same item at the exact same moment (IE: duplication of the product, IE piracy ). If someone reproduced the item however and resold it; thats bad. Logged

Yeah, it's an awkward situation; you could theoretically see a single copy being used for maybe... 10 potential customers; while the consumers may pay the equivalent of say, four copies of the game, all the extra revenue from re-sales goes to video game retailers.

The people who are selling their used games don't really benefit - since they're down on money in the first place - and the developers definitely don't. Hell, even the people buying the used games don't really benefit, as they're not saving a huge amount. Only the retailers gain from it.
